CF Education Night is a month away – May 23rd. We are looking forward to an evening of sharing, learning and socializing. Please help us prepare for the event by completing the on-line registration at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MLKZJLR (If you have already registered, thank you.)
A key element of the program is the breakout into three discussion groups dealing with topics selected based on community response to our survey. The three discussion topics are:
– Coping with grief, stress and depression
– Adapting to life with CF: the first five years
– Caring for all of you
We want to emphasize that these will be discussion sessions led by a individuals (both members of the CF community and professionals) familiar with the topic. We recognize the value of everyone’s experience; therefore, these sessions will be structured as conversations rather than presentations. We expect the response to your questions just might come from your peers as well from the discussion leaders.
While the leaders will have some introductory observation, our goal is to respond to issues and concerns that the participants bring to the discussion. If there are particular points that you want addressed in your breakout session, please send the topic(s) to email@example.com. This information will be provided to discussion leaders to ensure the conversation covers areas of greatest interest.
We take a broad view of “education” in this event so learning what’s going on in our local community is an equally important component of the program. The socializing that takes place, particularly during the opening reception, is an enjoyable way to catch up on news from your friends and make new acquaintances. The fun extends to sampling the tasty appetizers that will be served by Chef’s Catering and the complementary beverages.

In our survey of potential discussion subjects, two other topics received a lot of interest: transplantation and the transition to adulthood. Although we are unable to accommodate those issues during Education Night, we are pleased to report that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is sponsoring virtual meetings on both topics. CF MiniCon: Transplant will be held on May 21, 2017, with registration opening on April 24th. Check our calendar (http://www.cffamilyconnection.org/event/cf-minicon-transplant/) for details. Young Adult Life Transition will be the subject of another CF MiniCon on July 22, 2017; details will be added to our calendar (http://www.cffamilyconnection.org/event/cf-minicon-young-adult-life-transition/) as the information becomes available.
We look forward to seeing you on May 23rd. Please let us know you will be joining us by completing the brief registration at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MLKZJLR
