Missy Brown is on the waiting list for a lung transplant – and that gets to be expensive. This fund raiser has been planned to help Missy finance the preparation, procedure and follow up. Besides, there’s lots of fun to be had at this Sunday afternoon event, including:

The bartenders and massage therapists will donate a portion of their proceeds to benefit Missy. Of course, any additional donations will be gratefully accepted.

Let’s band together as Missy’s Mafia and show her how much we love and support her! Check the CFFC calendar for the details on the Sip ‘N’ Pour event.

Here’s a nice passage from Missy’s Facebook page that gives you insight into the importance of the fundraiser:

Everyday brings a new challenge. Today’s challenges have been a bit harder to deal with. Having a lung transplant isn’t a cure. But it is a miracle. And first I must make it to the surgery. Who knows when that time will come. I may have to wait for 9 months or longer. My health is very poor right now. Some of you don’t know about my situation completely so I’d like to explain myself. I’ve been fighting a progressive disease. I’ve already outlived a life expectancy. Of course with a transplant I will get a chance to live much longer.

Now there are some things that need to be known about transplant. I have to make it to the transplant. What does a transplant mean? Someone who is a perfect match and fit to me has to die and in the right circumstance. Getting on the list means that I’m literally waiting for a miracle. If I’m lucky enough to receive this miracle then the after math is tricky as well. I risk my body rejecting the new lungs. I’m asking for multiple miracles. I feel greedy. But I have also been feeling a lot of love since all of this has started. I couldn’t ask for better, more loving friends. Today the weight of my survival is heavy on my mind. So it is with great importance that you all know how much I care about you, about my life, and about proving to you all that I deserve this.

The money I am fundraising is not for the miracle, but for things surrounding the miracle. I’d like to ask today, not for money, but for each of you who read this to share. Share your love and kindness. To pray or ask the universe for a miracle, how ever you choose to do it. I ask you to take a deep long breath. Feel your lungs filling up and then release, slowly, feeling every part of the life giving air that has filled you up. And know that every breath, including this one is special. None of us know when our last breath will be. So they must all be cherished.

I believe we all deserve one miracle in our lives. I’m waiting for mine now. Thank you for all of your support and kindness. Thank you for all your love.

I love you.
